Old Collegians Association

History: The Catholic Ladies' College Old Collegians' Association is as old as the College itself, founded in 1902. In 1904, old collegians joined with the students of the time in presenting an oratorio in St. Patrick's Cathedral. Between 1913 - 1919 they had contributed one thousand pounds for the foundation of a CLC Newman Exhibition at Melbourne University.
The committee met regularly at the CLC Convent in Grey Street (now Cathedral Place) East Melbourne, and at one stage in the later 1920s at the Ambassador Restaurant in Swanston Street, Melbourne. For many years the committee organised an annual debutante ball at the St. Kilda Town Hall to which they invited representatives of other colleges. There was an annual reunion Mass and gathering at the college.

Currently: The Old Collegians' Association comprises all former students, some of whom have chosen to be financial members. The latter receive current information about the college through "The Collegian" published twice a year, and other information from time to time from the committee.
The committee meets four times a year. It organises major reunions, usually every ten years. Annually it organises a film night, the proceeds from which are given to the principal of the college to be used at her discretion to help with the educational needs of students requiring financial assistance.

An Invitation to Keep in Touch

Welcome to that large group of women (and a few men from CLC, East Melbourne's Infant Classes) who are the Old Collegians of Catholic Ladies' College. We hope we will see you from time to time in the future and encourage you to become involved in the life of the College.

So that we may keep you informed about what is going on at CLC and among the college's former students, we would love you to become a financial member of the Old collegians' Association. Through such membership you will receive "The Collegian" twice a year, plus notices of activities organised by the Old Collegians' Committee. You may like to take out a three year membership for $30.00 or for school leavers $15. Or you may wish to take out life membership ($100.00).

We look forward to keeping in touch with you in this way, and wish you every success and blessing as you begin the post-school years of your life.

Yours very sincerely,

The CLC Old Collegians' Committee
